However, there has been one side of Lord Shiva, which takes us back to the evolvement of Goddess Parvati in him. It is called the Shiva’s masculine and feminine side; Ardhanarishvara. To understand it in a better way, let me take you back to the ancient story of this combination. Book Chardham Yatra package with us and make your Darshan memorable.

Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati have always been considered a unique couple, due to their immense love and power. Goddess Parvati wanted to experience everything from Lord Shiva’s mind so she demanded to learn everything from him. Lord Shiva suggested her to sit on his lap and get evolved with him to see everything from his own eyes. Hence, they both became Ardhanarishvara. He became half Shiva and half Parvati and vice versa. To evolve partially into Goddess Parvati, he had to surrender his half masculine side to accept the half feminine side of her. His masculine side represents knowledge, clarity and consciousness and his feminine side represents care, protection and warmth. Shiva is known as the source of creation and Shakti is known as Creation, apparently both are needed to create a new Life. That is how the union of Man and Women were formed to complete the process of nature.

This gives us the basic understanding of human form. Every human being consists of both the sides, Masculine and Feminine in the form of knowledge and energy. To be completed in the cosmos, one needs to accept both the sides which demand to acknowledge your masculine and feminine sides. The marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati was held in Kedarnath temple, which makes this holy place more significant to value the evolution of Ardhanarishvara.

It is only in the modern era that people are considered weak or strong, according to their masculine and feminine traits. But if look at Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, after combining both the sides together, they were able to make a divine connection with the Universe.  So break down the stereotype of gender differences of Male and Female, where women are always trying to compete with men and men are always trying to prove themselves better. Evidently, according to the law of nature, both are incomplete without the other.
